Antique Samuel Howitt Hand-Colored Engravings “Stag Hunting” (1 of 4)

Antique Samuel Howitt Hand-Colored Engraving, "Stag Hunting" (1 of 4) A striking antique hand-colored engraving from celebrated English sporting artist Samuel Howitt, capturing the drama, movement, and excitement of a stag hunt. This is the first piece in a series of four related hunting scenes, each beautifully hand-colored to bring the action and landscape to life. Howitt was known for his exceptional understanding of animal anatomy and his ability to create dynamic, lively compositions, making his sporting prints especially appealing to collectors of English sporting art and natural history. The fine detail and traditional hand-coloring showcase the craftsmanship of late 18th and early 19th-century printmaking. The beautiful patina that has developed over time adds to its character and gives the piece an authentic sense of history. A wonderful addition to a collection of sporting art, natural history prints, or English antiques. Display it on its own or pair it with the other works in the series for a truly impressive gallery wall. Purchased in Oxford, England.
