Ernie Ball Music Man JP15 7 String Quilt - Sahara Burst

The Interstellar Tone Traveler has crossed some serious sonic territory in search of the instruments that define modern guitar playing — and few signatures carry the gravitational pull of John Petrucci's. As the architect of Dream Theater's legendary technical framework and one of the most decorated lead guitarists in progressive metal history, Petrucci's collaboration with Ernie Ball Music Man has produced some of the most thoughtfully engineered instruments on the planet. The JP15 7 is the apex of that partnership: a 7-string built not just for extended range, but for players who demand that every string in every register respond with precision, warmth, and control. This 2023 example arrives in Sahara Burst over a stunning Quilt Maple top — a warm, sun-scorched gradient that deepens beautifully under satin finish, letting the quilted figure breathe and move rather than disappear beneath a glassy coat. What separates the JP15 7 from virtually every other extended-range guitar on the market is the sheer breadth of its tonal universe. The Okoume body keeps the weight at a remarkable 7lbs 12oz for a 7-string — light enough to wear for a full set without fatigue. The Figured Roasted Maple neck and fingerboard bring enhanced stability, resonance, and a tactile feel that distinguishes them immediately from conventional maple. DiMarzio Illuminator humbuckers — voiced specifically for this instrument in partnership with Petrucci — deliver the tight, articulate response that extended-range playing demands, driven by a custom Music Man active preamp with a push/push volume gain boost for an extra layer of aggression on demand. And then there's the feature that puts this guitar in a category of its own: the custom JP Piezo floating tremolo with Fishman Powerbridge piezo saddles lets you blend or switch to acoustic-adjacent tones from a solid-body electric, opening a tonal dimension that almost no other 7-string can access. A 17" radius and Medium Jumbo Stainless Steel frets round out a shredder's instrument that also happens to be one of the most versatile guitars in any lineup. This is a legend's axe — and it's in mint condition. Condition Notes: 2023 model in mint condition. Shows no visible signs of play or wear.
