Martin 000-28 Standard Series Acoustic Guitar - Natural Aged Toner

The Interstellar Tone Traveler has learned through countless journeys that the difference between two instruments can sometimes be measured in fractions of an inch — and yet those fractions can mean everything. The 000-28 and its long-scale sibling the OM-28 share the same Style 28 lineage, the same rosewood and spruce pairing, the same bold herringbone trim and abalone appointments — but the 000-28's 24.9" short scale transforms the experience in ways that players feel immediately and profoundly. Lower string tension means a warmer, rounder response with more give beneath the fingers, a tone that pulls inward rather than projecting outward, inviting the kind of intimate, nuanced playing that the 000 body was born to reward. This is the scale length associated with some of the most storied fingerstyle performances in acoustic music history, and for good reason: the short scale and Auditorium body together create a harmonic environment that is deeply balanced, beautifully responsive, and endlessly expressive across both fingerpicking and strumming. The 2025 Standard Series refresh brings GE-scalloped X-bracing into the equation — a vintage-inspired brace shape previously reserved for the Modern Deluxe lineup — elevating the 000-28's natural resonance and sustain to a level that honors its extraordinary heritage. Bold herringbone top inlay, Style 28 multi-stripe rosette, and Diamonds and Squares Long abalone fingerboard inlay on a bound ebony fingerboard deliver the full visual richness of the Style 28 tradition without a single compromise. East Indian rosewood back and sides with Style 28 back purfling and multi-stripe back inlay complete a tonal and aesthetic picture that is unmistakably, indelibly Martin — refined, purposeful, and deeply connected to the history of acoustic music. Antique white binding, bone bridge pins with faux tortoise dots, and nickel open-gear tuners with butterbean knobs round out an instrument that wears its pedigree with quiet confidence. The aging toner gloss top adds just enough vintage warmth to the visual presentation to remind you that this 000-28 draws from nearly a century of accumulated wisdom. For the Interstellar Tone Traveler who wants the full Style 28 voice in the most comfortable, intimate playing experience the format offers — this is that guitar.
